Witrynareported the preparation and characterization of stable bistrifluoromethylated organocuprate [Ph 4P] +[Cu(CF 3) 2] − 1. Further studies showed that low conversion for the formation of desired trifluoromethylated arene was observed for the reac-tion of [Ph 4P] +[Cu(CF 3) 2] − 1 with phenyl iodide at 80–100 °C, as expected. Witrynayl-containing medium-sized rings by organocuprate oxidation and the application of this chemistry in the synthesis of members of the ellagitannin family of natural products. A concise and efficient total synthesis of the ellagitannin sanguiin H-5 is highlighted. Studies to-wards the synthesis of elaeocarpusin are also presented. 1 Introduction
