I have made a few pitman arms. Take a pitman arm that fits the box and cut off the splined end that fits the shaft. Cut this piece round. Now take a piece of 1/2" x 2" steel bar and make a hole in it so that the old pitman arm end will fit in this hole. Grind as needed.

I compared the arms, and the shape is identical, I just didn't know if the "holes" in the ends of the pitman arm was different. I guess I will just keep the pitman amr on the '66 that is there now. Webb17 juli 2010 · Heat the arm (not the shaft) thoroughly and apply constant pressure with the puller and it will come off so easy you'll wonder why you didn't try this first. Also, with heat, you won't need to torque down on the puller to the point that it breaks. Use the proper amount of heat and it will be off in 5 minutes.
